The building where the Heritage Exhibition Centrelocated was used to be Ching Po School, the only primary school in Yim Tin Tsai. The Ching Po School was completed in 1920 to provide primary education for children of Yim Tin Tsai and nearby villages, as well as fishers and boat people. Despite its small scale operation, the teacher-student relationship was close.It gave many villagers and Sai Kung residents who studied in Yim Tin Tsai a pleasant memory. As the villagers gradually moved out of Yim Tin Tsai, Ching Po School was closed in 1997. In 2006, the villagers converted a classroom on the right of the school building into an exhibition centre of cultural relics of Yim Tin Tsai.
